Party Garbage! Tomorrow Night! 09/13/08

Tomorrow night! Kendall and I will be once again hosting our monthly dance party at the C&D, Party Garbage. Come celebrate moving forward in the year and the return to hoodie/jacket/sweater weather! As always, there will be plenty of pure pop pleasure, confetti, balloons, lights and fog. I’m literally about to head out the door right now to do my prep shopping. Round 2 begins Saturday!

Your monthly two-weekend-spanning dance marathon begins this Saturday, September 6, with the second installment of Dance_MF. Last month’s was quite the success, and this time it should be that much better. I was in a rather rare form at their first night which is always a good sign. People tell me I’m a fun drunk and I don’t think they would lie to me…would they? This month Cincinnati’s A/V-Dance-meltdown night takes on “Back To School.” Good luck guys, get your homework done!

This post is only partially self-serving…

I know, I know, four days is a long time not to hear from me. Fear not, I am very much alive. I was in DC for the weekend and had a somewhat busy Monday. Well, busy for me anyways. Either way, I’m back and today we’re going to be talking about a couple of fun events events coming up in the next few weeks. Now, this is why this little post will be partially self-serving, I’m involved in one of them. In the spirit of good sportsmanship though, the other squad gets to go first. Plus they are first on the calender. So let me introduce you to two nights meant to get your feet moving: Dance Motherfucker and Party Garbage.

Party Garbage Mix (Round 2)

I was at a loss of words today. I know that’s a rarity with me but I honestly couldn’t think of a single thing to write about. A week or so ago I posted the first of my mixes claiming that I would be doing more (and hopefully better ones) sometime in the near future. Well, since I was having my first case writer’s block for this I decided to go ahead and do another one of these. Technically, Party Garbage is myself and Kendall Bruns, but these are all me hiding beneath an umbrella name.

I wanted to post this earlier but ended up screwing the proverbial DJ-mix pooch a few times and had to restart since I’m doing these live. I’m not the worlds greatest DJ, but I think they work well for personal dance parties and drives home. There are a couple slip up hiding in the 50 minutes that this thing goes on, but hopefully that doesn’t make them less fun. I had fun making it in my study, so I think it will be doubly fun for you while you’re running errands, exercising, kickin’ it with 40’s, stoopin’ it or just doing some work. Hey, I promised…

I said earlier that I was maybe going to do a continuous mix for you, my readers. Well, I was messing around with it today, and I thought I’d hand over what I made. I’m all about open lines of communication. Just to be clear though, this is a semi-half-assed effort. The songs are good, I can assure you that, but some of the transitions are less than stellar. I also did a crap job at cleaning up a little screw up, aaaaaand kinda got an itchy trigger finger with the effects at the end. But hey, its the first one. I’m not going to try and kid you and make you think I’m great right off the bat. So, that’s the disclaimer. This is far from perfect, but it should be OK for your drive home from work. So enjoy, I promise I’ll put more work into the next one.

The Second Monthly Music Round-up

Happy July! I took a long weekend from posting, but I’m back. Promise. Hope all you red-blooded Americans had a very good fourth of July. Thanks to everyone who came out to the inaugural Party Garbage night. Kendall and I were very happy to see everyone. Sorry if the fog got a little excessive, I forgot to turn the machine off occasionally. You know it made things totally awesome, though. Hope to see everyone the next time we do it. Haven’t got a date on that yet, but you’ll be the first to know when we do.

Seeing as its the beginning of the month, what better time to have our second music round-up? This month we have a collection of more fun. Hopefully there will be a few things you’ll enjoy, a few things that will validate your tastes, and all things that will make you feel a little funky in your working environment.
